Mig-29A Fulcrum No. 77, 1st fighter Aviation Regiment, Polish Air Force, 1989

Scale 1:72 / Diecast model

The MiG-29 is a twin-engine supersonic fourth generation air superiority jet fighter developed in the Soviet Union in the 1970’s. The aircraft entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983 and still is in use with them as well as equipping over twenty four other countries over the years. The NATO designation for the MiG-29 is Fulcrum and it was designed to counter the American F-16 and F-18. The MiG-29 was first seen in the West in 1986. The MiG-29 (9-13) is designated the Fulcrum C.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Poland wanted to join NATO and obtain American aircraft but it wasn’t economically feasible to rid themselves of their MiG-29s. On December 20, 1995 Poland signed a contract with the Czech Republic for 9 MiG-29As and 1 MiG-29UB they had phased out. On December 22, 1995 Czech MiG-29A 29605377 Black 7702, arrived wearing Czech markings. It was renumbered 77 along with new Polish markings but the Czech camo scheme remained. It was assigned to 1. elt (tactical aviation sq.) "Warszawa" / 23. blot (AFB) Minsk-Mazowiecki.
